In 2015 Fender announced the release of the “10 for ’15” Limited Edition Collection, a series of 10 guitars that were limited to 500 of each worldwide. The series added some lesser-seen tweaks to classic models in design twists which married cosmetic changes with materials that would alter the instruments' tones in subtle ways.
The Fender Limited Edition American Standard Stratocaster Oiled Ash was certainly one of the most interesting and successful models of the series. This aptly named guitar is built like an American Standard and sounds like an American Standard, but has a look straight out of the ‘70s and a delightfully transparent finish that looks as organic as it sounds.

It’s well known that the less finish there is encasing a guitar, the more the body can breathe, resonate and reverberate better and more freely. That’s why we gave the Limited Edition American Standard Stratocaster Oiled Ash a ’70s-style look with a thin oil finish on the body, allowing maximum tonal transference and organic projection. Its three single-coil Custom Shop Fat ’50s deliver warm and crystalline classic Stratocaster tone.

This Natural Oiled Ash Stratocaster is in stunning, almost new condition. It has been kept I superb condition and has rarely left the house of its one owner. Apart from some swirling on the pickguard there are no marks, dings, dents, scratches anywhere that we can see. Certainly no buckle rash, and frets are 99.9%.
The guitar has been set up nicely and plays well in all positions. The neck is a very comfortable medium C profile. There appears to be no changes or modifications that we can see.
And its weight is 7.1 lbs – a very light modern Strat for sure.
With its thin coat of hand-rubbed oil that allows the body to breathe, we think this Strat’s natural resonance and projection is noticeably improved.
Comes in its original Fender branded ABS moulded hard case in new condition with tags, cloth and back plate.
